Rapid advancements in deep learning technology have led to the rise of Large Language Models (LLMs) – AI systems capable of generating context-aware, human-like responses to queries. Many of such models are publicly available, and while they perform great on general tasks, they often struggle with domain-specific tasks due to their general nature. To avoid the colossal cost of developing domain-specific LLMs from scratch, a technique called ‘Finetuning’ has recently gained traction. Here, an existing LLM is tuned for a specific task given a smaller dataset, leveraging the existing natural language processing capabilities of the multi-billion-parameter models.
