You book international transport, coordinate with carriers and make sure shipments reach their destination on time. Can you keep track of everything when plans change, and do you enjoy making sure every detail is right? Then this freight forwarder role at DSV could be for you.

You get it done

Keeping our customers’ shipments moving smoothly and ensuring every shipment reaches the right destination on time, with the correct information and documents: you’re on it.

How you do this? You check shipment details, follow customer instructions and ensure all information is accurately recorded in the system. You check the required customs documents and CMR consignment notes and book the shipment with one of our carriers. At the same time, you coordinate with colleagues in dispatch. Meanwhile, customer service asks you to provide a quote for a return shipment from abroad. For more complex queries, you can rely on the senior freight forwarder and the supervisor freight forwarding.

Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for the smooth organization of all our transport. You make sure shipments depart on time, arrive on time and are handled flawlessly from an administrative perspective. You achieve this by:

• booking and following up on international shipments across different means of transport, in line with customer agreements;
• checking and processing shipment details, customs documents and CMR consignment notes in the systems and transport portals;
• coordinating rates, collection and delivery times with carriers and keeping customers and colleagues informed of progress and any changes;
• maintaining transport overviews and reports and promptly identifying delays or missing information.

The pace is particularly fast between 11:00 and 15:30, when many transport bookings are made, and towards the end of the month. You prioritize, maintain accuracy and work closely with your colleagues to get the job done.

Your team stands out within DSV for its strong collaboration and willingness to help one another. You will join a department with 8 freight forwarders and 1 account coordinator. Even during busy periods, colleagues support each other. There is room for humor, and we organize team activities to get to know each other beyond our daily work.

You bring

• a secondary vocational level of working and thinking, equivalent to Dutch MBO, and knowledge of international transport, for example gained in a logistics or transport role;
• strong organisational skills: you keep track of priorities and adapt easily when plans change;
• an accurate approach and confidence using digital systems to process shipment details and agreements correctly;
• a good command of English, enabling you to communicate clearly with customers, carriers and colleagues; Dutch is welcomed but not mandatory;
