  • Relevant legal experience gained in private practice or an in-house legal environment.
  • Experience with commercial agreements, such as reviewing, drafting or supporting negotiations.
  • An analytical mindset and the ability to get to the heart of legal and business questions.
  • Confidence using digital tools and an interest in how technology can support legal work.
  • Experience in an international corporate environment is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of competition law is a plus.
  • An interest in agriculture or agribusiness is welcomed.

About the company

You will join the global core Legal team supporting the BASF | Nunhems vegetable seeds business and report directly to the Head of Legal.

You will collaborate with colleagues across different functions and levels of the organization, as well as with Legal colleagues within BASF Agricultural Solutions globally. This gives you the opportunity to develop your legal expertise in an international environment, learn from experienced colleagues and contribute your own perspective to practical legal solutions.

Your Job

As (Junior) Legal Counsel at BASF | Nunhems, you will help turn legal questions into practical solutions that enable our vegetable seeds business to move forward responsibly. You will work on a broad range of commercial and legal topics, learn from an international network of legal professionals, and gradually build your expertise and ownership.

Your work contributes to a bigger ambition: developing vegetable varieties and solutions that help make healthy eating enjoyable and sustainable for people around the world.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide practical legal advice on commercial contracts, competition law, employment law, corporate governance and compliance.
  • Support colleagues with legal questions arising from day-to-day business activities and strategic projects.
  • Review and draft commercial agreements and support negotiations with customers, suppliers, partners, associations and other third parties.
  • Translate legal requirements and complex topics into clear, practical advice that helps colleagues make informed business decisions.
  • Contribute to legal initiatives, training and knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Build strong working relationships with Legal colleagues across BASF Agricultural Solutions globally.
  • Provide business-focused legal support, balancing commercial objectives with legal considerations.
  • Contribute part of your time to legal activities within the broader Agricultural Solutions business, giving you exposure beyond vegetable seeds.

Own it

  • You take responsibility for your work and follow through on commitments.
  • You combine attention to detail with practical judgement and know when to involve others.
  • You build trusted relationships through clear communication, reliability and an understanding of business needs.

Drive it

  • You are curious and proactive, looking for workable solutions to legal and business challenges.
  • You set priorities effectively and stay focused when different topics compete for your attention.
  • You collaborate comfortably across functions and cultures and are open to different perspectives and new ways of working.

Excel in it

  • You make complex legal topics understandable and translate them into practical advice.
  • You actively seek and share feedback to support your own development and that of others.
  • You remain calm, pragmatic and solution-oriented when challenges arise.
  • You are eager to deepen your legal expertise while building your understanding of the business and agricultural sector.
