Global Portfolio Manager in several open field crops / Open Field 

A strong and future-proof product portfolio starts with a clear vision of market developments, assortment strategy, and product lifecycle management. As a Global Portfolio Manager, you will optimize the global product portfolio within one or more crops or crop segments. This role offers the opportunity to connect strategy, data, and market insights while leading multidisciplinary teams. In doing so, you will contribute to sustainable growth, healthy profitability, and a differentiated offering for customers worldwide. 

 

Make a Difference as a Global Portfolio Manager in several open field crops / Open Field 

As a Global Portfolio Manager in several open field crops / Open Field, you play a key role in maximizing revenue and profitability within your assigned crop or crop segment, covering both conventional and organic portfolios. You translate the global crop strategy into concrete short- and mid-term plans while ensuring effective execution and follow-up. 

 

You will work closely with colleagues across Product Management, Marketing & Sales, Breeding, and Seed Operations. In addition, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, connect stakeholders across departments, and ensure strong alignment between commercial opportunities, product development, and product availability. 

 

In this role, your responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Optimizing the product portfolio through Product Lifecycle Management and Variety Assortment Strategy, based on sales performance, forecasts, market potential, and profitability; 
  • Translating the global crop strategy into strategic market plans, tactical action plans and monitoring progress for both conventional and organic portfolios; 
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams, cross-functional improvement projects, and breakthrough innovation projects in collaboration with Breeding and Marketing & Sales; 
  • Managing product flow, inventory development, and slow-moving or obsolete varieties, including developing and monitoring sales plans and minimizing economic write-offs; 
  • Defining the positioning, pricing, and global allocation of new and existing varieties, in collaboration with among others the Regional Product Managers, and commercial teams; 
  • Overseeing variety registration and plant variety protection activities and assessing whether Plant Breeders’ Rights applications should be pursued.

You are results-oriented, capable of managing complex processes, and skilled at balancing commercial opportunities, availability, pricing, and profitability. 

 

In addition, you have: 

 

  • A completed bachelor’s degree (HBO or university level), preferably in agriculture, business administration, marketing, or a related field; 
  • At least five years of relevant experience in product management, portfolio management, marketing, sales, or a similar role within an international environment; 
  • An agri-/horticultural background and knowledge of, or affinity with, plant breeding, seeds, crops, and international markets; 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate sales data, forecasts, market potential, and profitability insights into concrete decisions and actions; 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, combined with strong influencing abilities, leadership, and the capacity to build bridges across departments; 
  • A results-driven and commercial mindset, a strategic outlook, and a willingness to travel regularly for business purposes.

  • A position for 38 hours per week;  
  • A gross monthly salary between €5,103.90 and €7,291.28 based on a full-time workweek of 38 hours and aligned with your knowledge and experience;  
  • 8.33% vacation allowance and an attractive annual bonus program of 10% of your annual salary, depending on your job level and company performance;  
  • 25 vacation days, the option to purchase additional vacation days, and one paid vitality day per year, with extra vacation days granted as you get older;  
  • A laptop and mobile phone provided by Enza Zaden;  
  • A contribution toward overnight accommodation costs if you live farther away from Enza Zaden. This program applies to employees working for Enza Zaden in the Netherlands whose one-way commute exceeds 100 kilometers and 75 minutes;  
  • An attractive retirement plan, commuting reimbursement if you live more than 10 kilometers from your workplace and a remote work allowance when working partly from home in consultation with your manager;
