Technical documentation serves many purposes. It helps users perform their work safely and effectively, understand technical systems and meet legal, safety and contractual requirements. However, users may not always need the same information, or need it in the same format. How can technical information be designed around the people who use it?
During this internship or graduation assignment, you will investigate how people find, use, share and adapt technical information in their daily work. Through interviews, observations and other user research methods, you will explore what information users really need, what they use today, what they struggle to find and where they develop their own solutions.
You will also investigate the technical, learning and safety requirements behind the information Vanderlande provides. By bringing these perspectives together, you will explore opportunities to make technical information more relevant and useful for its intended users
The Content Development & Training department at Vanderlande is responsible for developing technical documentation, training materials and user-focused information that help people understand, operate and maintain Vanderlande systems. The department works with different types of content for a variety of audiences and applications, with a focus on making technical information clear, accessible and useful in practice.
